Some things, we should probably just let go of. And, in fact, even its name had become somewhat obsolete - everything cutting edge should more likely be wireless now, shouldn't it? And, really, was there ever any chance that Conde Nast could actually deliver the type of tech talk previously found in a mag like Wired? No, I think not.

Of course, that now leaves the field wide open for a publication that <i>could</i> actually fit this niche. However, it would be a long, hard struggle to establish one what with the way print publications are dropping like flies. Even PC Magazine, in the States, will be going to an online only format - if it hasn't already.

Then again, in this digital age, that's probably only to be expected. Especially with companies such as Zinio delivering a very magazine-like experience on our digital devices.

Still, even though I'm online all the freaking time, I do love a good magazine. Not enough to subscribe to one anymore, though. And there you have the problem in a nutshell. Newspapers, print mags, it's just a matter of time before they are all all gone.

Kenneth Williams? Another person you could just pop on a comfy chair, let witter on and giggle away (never knowing about the manic depression, obviously).

I 'spose all the latter-day clebs are so much more specifically generated; footballers, actors or reality tv stars. Hum. How depressing. There must be some out there, right?? Whimper.

I date the death of indie to Oasis playing Knebworth, when I found myself stuck behind four people in matching 'CREWE & ALSAGER COLLEGE LACROSSE CLUB' windcheaters. I mean, Oasis weren't indie as such, but they knelt at the shrine of Morrissey.

Actually, it probably goes back a bit earlier, to when Nirvana signed to Geffen. If bands like REM and Radiohead became big, global propositions, the whole idea of 'indie' or 'alternative' goes out of the window.

Or maybe it was when The Clash signed to CBS.

Or when Elvis left Sun.

Or when Gracie Fields got a movie deal...

Keeping up a reputation for being ahead of trends, I became a video game addict (along with several other females in my crowd) around 1980-81 (Moon Cresta being my especial favorite) — and completely abandoned them before single-player shooters came into fancy. I'm hopelessly ancient and out of date now — wouldn't know what to do with a joystick if I had one...

I was talking to a friend a while back about what would be the ultimate non video game male sport. We came up with Halo style paintball complete with bases, paintball guns that work beyond 30 feet and quadbikes. We probably wouldn't come home to be honest.

Mario Kart is about the only game I play semi-regularly on the Wii. If you remove yourself from the involvement of "fun" it actually isn't fun at all. Perhaps it is an indication of where kids are with the need for constant stimulation; you can lead the whole race but to even it up the CPU characters shoot weapons at you that can't be blocked and you end up coming 8th.

Don't bother with that Star Wars one either, Force Unleashed, I think it is. It's rubbish.
